Founder & CEO

Shannon Flanagan started in retail as a freshman in college and hasn’t looked back. She’s spent eighteen years working in the business at: May Company, Sephora, Gap Inc., Lands’ End, and Macy’s Inc.; six years in consulting with Accenture and Slalom; and five years in the world of tech with Infor, Talkdesk, and Writer. Most of her roles were first of its kind, launching new functions to accelerate transformation. She’s particularly proud of her seven years of service helping non-profits actualize their mission.

From product creation to post-purchase customer service, strategic planning to execution, and industry-agnostic to industry-relevant solutions, Shannon’s experience driving change for retailers and creating the Retail|CPG verticals for AI-enabled tech companies has provided her a 360-degree cross-functional view of what it takes to win.

When she was 25 she figured out her why and it’s driven her ever since. It is to create the conditions for people to love what they do every day. Work shouldn’t suck. Creating meaningful value for the business, people and customers is what fuels her fire. Shannon’s belief is simple: when we feel supported, it creates a ripple effect of positive energy not only at work, but also at home —with friends, families, and their communities.

She leads with a curious, pragmatic, authentic, enthusiastic, and empathetic approach. As a certified life coach and a mother of 3, she’s a natural cheerleader and challenger. She operates with a GSD (get sh*t done) mindset. Shannon sees what others don’t - the connective tissue in between the dots. She does what many struggle with: taking the big picture and making it come to life.

Shannon can be seen on webinars, in articles, and at events as a speaker and moderator, covering a multitude of industry topics. She’s been recognized as as a ReThink Top Retail Expert, sits on the Rethink Retail Advisory Board, is a RetailWire BrainTrust member and moonlights as an advisor to many start-ups. She’s most honored to serve on the Retail AI Council as the Committee Chair for Women in AI, driving progress in the advancement of our contributions and impact.

As social as retail is, there are very few communities that welcome everyone who love retail. Shannon is on a mission to change that. Inspired by this, she created the Retail Women in Tech community, dedicated to women and allies who have a passion for retail and tech.
